First, a piranha´s mouth isn´t big enough for a finger to fit on it, even a small one. Maybe the piranha was just in the fountain for a day or a couple of days. I'm sure a piranha can live without food for a least a day or even a couple of days for that matter. What's so hard to believe besides your contention that a piranha can't "easily" bite off a person's finger. I found a place that sells pirnhas for $28 plus shipping.
